End of Day 1A: The Dutchies steal the cheese

10/03/09 @ 22:12:05 op Danny

Average stack is 25,000 chips
Blinds 300-600
Ante 75
EPT Dortmund by PokerStars

Two Everest players remain: Our very own Team Everest Poker player Krul and his Dutch colleague MrMister82.

Krul

MrMister82

MrMister82 ended Day 1A with 15,000 chips. The last level of the tournament he was moved from table to table which, according to him, explains the low chip count because he had no time to “read” his opponents.

Krul finished with a fantastic 42,300. He was able to double up with his second last hand. Well done kiddo.

The Italian Cristiano 'Lalanco' Blanco was the last to leave the tournament on Day 1A. Lalanco raised with 55 in his hands. A call and a fold later the flop showed 678. Lalanco used his pair and straight draw to go all in. A devious plan that would have worked if the opponent did not have pocket AA. Unfortunately the turn and river brought no relief.

The entire tournament Krul struggled to hold on. This shows poker can also have a happy ending for the persistent few even if the story was written in blood, sweat and tears.

Well done guys. Enjoy your well deserved day off tomorrow to start fresh again for Day 2 on Wednesday. Everybody at Everest Poker is cheering for you. The pompoms are ordered, the parade float parked round the corner.

3 Everest poker players remain in the tournament in Dortmund.

10/03/09 @ 17:50:24 op Danny

Level 6
The average is 16451
Blinds 150-300

Vanvan40 started the round with 14000 chips, which was at that time above the average. Unfortunately the lady of good fortune turned her back on the jolly Frenchman. With his pair of K in his hand he road down the battlefield, facing his demons. The flop laid down J, 9 and 4. Bravely his opponent raised to 2500 chips. Not shaken by this bold move Vanvan40 drew all his weapons and went all-in, head first before he got knocked down by a 2 and 3 adding to the straight of his opponent.

Equally brave, Nheo also found his grave on the battlefield of the brave. With 2Q in his hand he awaited the flop which was QJJ. Oh yeah he though too soon. His opponent had AJ in his hand. Nheo went all in. The turn left the situation status quo, but the river brought the final blow in the form of a 4th J. And there he went…our very own Everest poker knight…beaten by the poker monster.

Not long afterwards the Dutch player Groengras followed both players when he went all in with his KQ to face pocket AA.

MrMister82 is still doing reasonably ok with 13110 chips, even though he came from 19000 before.

Krul has 12000 chips.

Lalancol has 13000 chips.

Although the remaining Everest poker players are below the average the remaining play quality is super high.

Go guys, defend our honor and battle hard.

Babbolone out of the tournament

10/03/09 @ 15:43:17 op Danny

Unfortunatly, the Italian player Babbolone didn’t make trough day 1.

Being big blind, he called a pre-flop bet of 850 with pocket 8 in his hand. The flop revealed Q, 6, 5 and both players checked. Babbolone got an 8 on the turn and bet 1500, but found himself called by his opponent. The rivercard was a 7, Babbolone checked. His opponent tough bet 3000 and Babbolone called. When they showed their cards, Babbolone found out that his opponent got 9 – 5, making a straight and beating the three of kind 8’s of Babbolone.

On the next hand, Babbolone went all-in with 8 – 9 and got called by A – 10. The flop showed another Ace and Babbolone was smacked out of the tournament.

He’s the first Everest-player who has to leave the tournament in Dortmund but he told us he will be back in San Remo and maybe even in Sevilla for the SPT.

End of Level 3 – blinds at 75/150 - Average 11634

10/03/09 @ 14:49:45 op Danny

Even if Babbolone is below average with his 9000 chips he told us everything is under control. He is feeling mighty confident and boldly stated “No problem, guys”. We hope he’s right and will be able to raise the number of chips in his hand.

Babbolone’s relaxed manner is a big contrast with MrMister82’s heightened concentration. At the beginning of level 3 he started out with 11000 chips but was able to remain focused and raise his chips to 14000. This brings him good above average. Well done, and keep the focus going.

Pictures speak more than a thousand words.
Look at how Vanvan40 plays like the old Japanese Zen masters. This sheer focus and determination raised his chip stack from 12000 in the beginning of level 3 to 14150 chips now.

Although Krul is slowly diminishing his chips from 9500 chips at the beginning of the round to 8800 now he’s being a fantastic sport about it. He keeps on enjoying himself and continuous battling to end up on top. We hope his infectious enthusiasm will bring him the glory he deserves.
